Preface: GTM Engineering 101
Understand what a GTM engineer does, who the work serves, and how a business problem becomes a useful system. Build a project brief as you learn.
Join Taylor at Northstar Learning. Someone has requested an AI lead scorer. You will inspect what is happening before deciding what to build.
No account or live CRM needed. Working choices and the project brief save in this browser. Existing account sync can carry chapter history; it does not transfer these working drafts.
Your peer in an example GTM team, not the answer key.
Learn the role by following the work
You will separate facts from assumptions, identify the people affected, map data and decisions, and test a small handoff. Then you will use the same model on a customer-onboarding problem.
GTM engineering includes inbound, outbound, forecasting, customer operations, internal tools, and the systems that connect them. You can come from a technical or commercial background. The aim here is orientation, not mastery of a particular platform.
- People
- Who needs a better outcome?
- System
- Which data, decisions, and work connect to it?
- Evidence
- How will we know whether it helped?

GTM Engineering Project Brief
Your take-away: a project brief you can explain
The brief connects the problem, clients, data, decisions, owners, measures, and review plan. You can copy it or save a Markdown file. All example records and outcomes belong to the teaching example; nothing in the guide contacts a prospect, updates a CRM, or calls a model.
